What to Expect With Your First Visit

For new patients, we will set aside one hour for you to share your pain story. Then, we'll comprehensively evaluate the cause of your pain to come to an accurate diagnosis. Once we have a diagnosis, we'll develop a personalized treatment regimen that will provide the blueprint for your future treatment recommendations.

During this time, you will receive education about your diagnosis. We'll also explain our plan to reduce your pain and improve your function. Then, we'll order fresh imaging to personally review those findings.

From here, we'll refer you to the appropriate support staff. You may be referred to physical therapy, massage therapy, chiropractic care, and/or counseling. We may prescribe appropriate non-opioid medications and order injections if we believe these treatments could be beneficial. As your treatment progresses, all data is further synthesized. We maintain open lines of communication with your referring doctor to ensure that all your care providers are working together to optimize your care.

Moving Forward With Your Next Steps

After each patient’s initial consult and the implementation or completion of any conservative recommendations or injections, we will review the outcomes of those treatments. We'll see what's working and what's not working.

From there, we'll figure out your next steps and create a plan for ongoing management and support. For holistic pain management, we want to partner with you to find new and refreshing ways to alleviate and control your chronic pain issues.

Continuous Support for a Fuller Life

With this service, our goal is to improve your function and mobility by reducing pain. Chronic pain is a complex disease process that requires long-term management. This means that the initial response and preliminary interventions are only the first steps. Your care will involve a long-term therapeutic relationship.

By building this relationship, we seek to give you the support you need for comprehensive lifestyle changes. We hope to offer the ongoing support you need to respond to your pain over time. As other issues arise with your pain levels, we'll offer ongoing acute and chronic treatment.

Some of Your Options for Pain Relief

Your pain is unique. That's why your treatment should be unique as well. For holistic pain management, we'll use our ample resources to give you the best options for relief.

Steroid Injections

Steroid injections, also called corticosteroid injections, involve the use of anti-inflammatory medicines to treat a range of painful conditions. Steroid injections are administered directly into the inflamed area. Typically, they are injected directly into joints to ensure that a high dose of the medication reaches the problem area. Steroid injections are used to treat:

  • Ankles
  • Elbows
  • Hips
  • Knees
  • Shoulders
  • Spines
  • Wrists

Radiofrequency Ablations

A radiofrequency ablation, or radiofrequency neurotomy, is a minimally invasive procedure that utilizes heat from radiofrequency waves to reduce or stop the transmission of pain. The radiofrequency waves ablate or burn the nerves causing pain and prevent the nerves from sending pain signals to the brain.  Radiofrequency ablations are used to treat:

  • Lower back
  • Neck
  • Joints damaged by arthritis

Nerve Blocks

A nerve block, or neural blockade, is a form of anesthesia used to control pain. Nonsurgical nerve blocks involve injecting anesthesia medication around a specific nerve or bundle of nerves to prevent the nerves from transmitting pain signals to the central nervous system and brain. Nerve blocks are used to treat the following:

  • Arthritis pain
  • Back pain
  • Knee pain
  • Leg pain
  • Neck pain
  • Other joints
  • Shingles pain
  • Shoulder pain

Trigger Point Injections

A trigger point injection, or TPI, involves injecting medication into painful areas of muscles that contain trigger points or knots of tense muscles. With the injection, the trigger point is inactivated, and the pain is alleviated. Trigger point injections are used to treat:

  • Arms
  • Legs
  • Lower back
  • Neck
